The Looking Glass War
When the Department—once a powerful force now diminished by the aftermath of the war and preoccupied with bureaucratic infighting—catches wind of a missile base near the West German border, it sees an opportunity to reclaim its political relevance in the intelligence world. The Cold War is at its peak, and the Department is desperate for a stake in the action. In a rush of fear and misplaced pride, the Department sends deactivated agent Fred Leiser back into East Germany, armed only with rudimentary training and his fading memories of the war.
In the silent, oppressive world of Communist East Germany, where every move is watched and every word carries weight, Leiser's fate becomes inextricably linked to the Department’s own fragile survival.
