Mereka Bilang, Saya Monyet!
Throughout my life, I have seen creatures with four legs—dogs, pigs, or buffaloes. Some had the fur of wolves, hedgehogs, or tigers, while others had the heads of snakes, bulls, or donkeys. But they were still not animals. The way they ate at the dinner table was proper. The way they spoke was always with polite language and demeanor. They read quality books and wrote important notes. They wore beautiful dresses and ties.
In fact, they say they have hearts. I carefully examined my reflection in the mirror. I have two legs and a human head, but to them, I am an animal. They call me a monkey. When they said that to me, I was overjoyed. I thought, if I am a monkey, then I am the only animal closest to being human. That must mean my rank is above theirs.
But they are humans, not animals, because they have reason and feelings. And I am only an animal. Just a monkey...
